At Sybille's, courage is firmly anchored

On August 10, 2018, Sybille Pillet, a future student at NEOMA Business School (Rouen campus), was diagnosed with stage 2 lymph node cancer at the age of 21. Chemotherapy treatments followed from September to December, and she underwent radiotherapy until March. Today, she is in remission. It's difficult for her to believe that at the age of 21, she was facing a serious illness, and her life was at stake. 

Since that day, she has learned to cherish every moment and decided to live her life to the fullest!

It was through encounters at NEOMA that the spark came to her: she wants to cross the Atlantic Ocean while telling her story and show that life doesn't stop with the discovery of an illness, but that there is a life beyond it. As the association Cheer Up (which supports young people with cancer) says: "We believe that having a project is essential to move forward in life; it allows young people to escape from the hospital and forget the disease for a while." With the help of this association and Sailaway (NEOMA's sailing association of which Sybille is a part), she puts together this audacious project.

The purpose of this crossing is to help children realize their dreams through a fundraising campaign. Additionally, with the help of an onboard camera, the crew will capture moments of the journey (to show life on board, take on challenges given by young patients) to allow the children to escape from their daily routine.

She decides to depart on February 15, 2021, a symbolic day in the fight against childhood cancer, with three other people, for a 16-day crossing.
